Stakeholders chose to not do user research. The decision was made to implement the solution with the least amount of development time. The UX Team recommended against this due to the resulting technical and design debt.
The immediate need was resolved with a sub-optimal user experience. The outcome was registered as an architectural defect and listed in the backlog.
While we always strive for great user experiences, sometimes we have to solve a critical need and anticipate a longer term solution.
