3. Placement Testing
All degree and certificate-seeking applicants must take the placement test or submit their ACT scores if those scores are less than 2 years old. Visit www.act.org and use school code 5570 to send scores to Cincinnati State. The placement test covers mathematics, writing, and reading and is used to determine if students would benefit from academic foundation classes before taking courses in their major.
Cincinnati State encourages students to brush up on these skills before taking the placement test and provides free placement test Boot Camps, which are especially useful for applicants who have been out of school for a while.
The placement test can be taken during a morning campus info session or on a walk-in basis. Testing is conducted in Room 176 of the Main Building on the Clifton campus. No reservation is required, and there is no charge. Please bring a photo I.D. and allow approximately 90 minutes for testing. Testing Center hours Monday – Saturday vary throughout the year.
Please visit the Testing Center website at www.cincinnatistate.edu/testing for current dates and times as well as resources to help brush up on your test-taking skills.
If you have taken College level Algebra and English you can submit a Placement Test Request to Waive.
