Going to college can be challenging. Whether you’re attending college for the first time, or finishing a degree you started long ago, Cincinnati State is dedicated helping every student succeed.

Advising Center

The Advising Center helps students transition to college life and develop educational plans based on their academic strengths, professional interests, and career goals. Advisors can help students decide on an academic major or offer guidance on choosing courses. Our registration process includes an opportunity to meeting with an advisor before signing up for classes.

Counseling Services

A team of licensed and professionally-trained counselors is available to perform counseling and referral services to address career counseling needs and facilitate mental health care for Cincinnati State students. All services and meetings are kept confidential.

Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services offers a variety of academic support services to qualified students with disabilities. These services include but are not limited to counseling, assistive technology and listening devices, Braille materials, in-class note takers, physical assistance, and sign language interpreting.

Success Center (Tutoring)

Our Success Center helps students turn their academic weaknesses into strengths, with individual tutoring available in many subjects and offered at all of our campus locations. The Writing Center, also part of the Success Center, provides expert guidance and useful tips to help students organize, research, and write quality reports and papers. All of the Success Center services are available to students at no cost.

Mallory Center

Some of our adult students appreciate care for their children while they are in classes or at work. The William Mallory Early Learning Center provides outstanding childcare for children age 3 months to 5 years on Cincinnati State’s Clifton campus for a fee, while at the same time serves as a learning lab for Cincinnati State Early Childhood Education students.

International Student Affairs

The Office of International Student Affairs helps students residing both outside and inside the U.S. navigate the process of applying to Cincinnati State as an international student, including guidance on visa issues, transcript translation, financial aid, and cultural adjustment.

Veterans

The Office of Veteran Student Affairs assists veterans, eligible dependents, and reservists with their smart transcripts, benefit eligibility counseling, claim filing, admission advising, and referrals to other campus and community services. Veteran Student Affairs also monitors student degree plans and graduation programs.

Pathway to Employment Center / GED

The Pathway to Employment Center (PTEC) helps adult learners reach their academic and career goals, particularly veterans and unemployed individuals displaced by recent economic shifts. In addition to tutoring, academic advising, Compass Boot Camps, and job coaching, PTEC also provides Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs) which offer students credit for knowledge and skills they have accumulated through previous work experience or military service. PLAs in turn provide credentials that demonstrate proven competency and skills to potential employers.
